DESCRIPTION
This project is intended to replace the existing Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium with a new space that would perform as a core gathering element within the University of Arizona campus. Thus,The site has an significant importance in terms of connectivity to its surrounding, The design concept forms based on the idea of creating an iconic form to bring more visitors to the building,including the UA students, and the general public who are less interested in science. Moreover by having a bolder form, which breaks the repetitive rhythm of the surrounding buildings the design concept seeks to represent the important role of The University of Arizona in sciences.
 
DESIGN IDEAS
Connection to the campus
Creating a passways for pedestrians to walk to the site on their every day journey in campus and experience the temporary exhibitions as well as the inside and outside gathering areas such as cafe’s in the building
 
Creating a gathering place for UA students, researchers and the general public.
creating openings to get natural lightletting the light penetrating through the whole building and increase the quality of the public space inside the building
 
Creating an Iconic formBreaking the Rythm
A mineral collection (earth) and a science space related facility (sky) are part of the existing science center/The three atriums associated with this design, are intended to focus on connecting earthly elements to the sky
